Ed Kusmirski P.Eng. - Executive Director
This new position will be instrumental in achieving CSN's goal
of transitioning to a Board Governance Model.
We look forward to this opportunity to work with Ed in his new
capacity with CSN as he leads
the implementation of the Strategic Plan, Fund Development Plan
and other operational duties.
Ed Kusmirski Bio:
Ed graduated in Electrical Engineering & Management from McMaster
University in Hamilton, Ontario in 1986. He has 20 years of experience
in the Telecommunications industry in a variety of management positions
including Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, Finance
and Operations.
He is married with two young children and is an active parent volunteer
at his children’s elementary and pre-schools.
In his spare time Ed is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys fishing,
camping, skiing and nature photography.
CSN volunteers are award winners!
Three University of Calgary faculty members are recipients of the
2008 Alberta
Science and Technology (ASTech) Leadership Foundation awards,
the highest honour available to individuals and organizations
in Alberta’s science and technology community. Award winner Dr.
Phil Langill, director of the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory
and Faculty of Science professor, was presented with the Excellence
in Science and Technology Public Awareness award for the observatory’s
public outreach activities. Congratulations Phil!
Scientists & Engineers in-the-Classroom
presenter Dr.
Leslie Reid has been recognized for her innovative teaching
methods by the University of Calgary. She is the first holder
of the Tamaratt Teaching Professorship in Geoscience. "Science
is something that hasn’t always been presented in an exciting
way, even though it’s an exciting subject,” says
Leslie. “Students learn best through inquiry, engagement
and by being active in the learning process. I’m trying
to find ways to bring that to my classes."University
of Calgary Students' Union Teaching Excellence Awards 2007 -
CSN Scientists & Engineers in-the-Classroom volunteer Dr.
Leslie Reid won an honourable mention in April 2007. This
is Leslie's fourth Teaching Excellence Award. Congratulations!
