Volunteer Resources

"The volunteer work I have done with the Science Network over the past 14 years has absolutely been the most rewarding experience for me!" CSN Volunteer Lisa Bannerman

View Teacher for an Hour and learn some new tricks and tips to improve an existing presentation or to get started on a new one. Our Volunteer Training held in April 2011 was very effective and has been converted to a .pdf file so that volunteers who could not attend the session can use it. Many thanks to Jacque Martin for a great training workshop.

Our next training workshops are planned for Fall 2011 and April 2012.

Take your presentation from great to amazing! CSN has an extensive collection of kits, instruments, models, books and other resources for CSN volunteers to borrow. Contact us if you are interested in borrowing materials, want to come and browse or would like some help on deciding what will enhance your presentation. We also have various general items such as filter paper and craft supplies. If there's something you need that's not listed here - please ask.
If you have suggestions for other resources we'd love to hear them!

Note to teachers - unfortunately we don't have enough of these resources to lend them to schools.

Alberta curriculum information (sorted by grade and topic) provides detailed information and Student Learning Expectations (SLEs).

Volunteer Manual - for all CSN volunteers. Includes many tips and a presentation template for Scientists-in-the-Classroom presenters.
