Why volunteer with CSN?
Our programs are excellent because our volunteers are outstanding!
Is the Discovery Channel your favourite? Do you hate to miss an episode of NOVA or the Nature of Things? If you answered yes, you might like to be a Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom volunteer!

Our volunteers are enthusiastic members of the Calgary scientific community who actively support CSN's goal of getting kids excited about science! Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom volunteers offer interactive presentations for most grade levels and topics in the Alberta Science Curriculum at no cost to schools.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Inspire the scientists and engineers of tomorrow
  • Develop your presentation skills
  • Enhance your resume
  • Have fun - while getting kids excited about science!

Have you got what it takes?
Apply now! You will be contacted to confirm suitability, clarify expectations, discuss topics of interest and answer questions.

Approved volunteers work with CSN and experienced volunteers to create an amazing presentation that will wow kids and their teachers. In addition we offer 3-4 training sessions per year on public speaking, hands-on activities, gearing to the students’ grade level and linking to the curriculum.

If you have questions please contact the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator.

“You never know which student in the class may be taking their very first steps toward a career in science.”
John Cox, CSN volunteer and Associate Professor, Mount Royal University.
